Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How many classes per week should
I attend?
A: We recommend two classes per week, plus a certain amount of
practice time in between classes as the perfect level of training.
This allows the student time to work on material between classes and
become proficient before new concepts are introduced. Like anything
in life, the more you practice, the better you get. We have a saying
in Taekwondo that repetition is the mother of skill. A good work
ethic ensures our philosophy of Constant And Never-ending
Improvement.
Q: Will there be other beginners in
my class?
A: At Impact Martial Arts, all students are grouped together by age
and rank. We have both adult and children's classes. In addition we
will be assigning a Black Belt "buddy" to our new children, so you
can quickly learn about the school from an existing student. In both
our Children and Adult Programs, we have class times that are
exclusive to beginners only to help you learn in a comfortable
environment.
Q: Will the Martial Arts make my
child overly aggressive?
A: At Impact Martial Arts, children are taught that the martial arts
are not to be used in aggression, but rather to defend oneself in
problematic situations. Aggressive behavior is channeled into
assertiveness to increase the child's self esteem, increase self
discipline and build character. Our program also helps the shy child
to develop self confidence and become more assertive. We specialize
in making your child feel that they are special. By developing a
winning attitude, your child can overcome many handicaps. Whether
your child is attention deficit, learning impaired, physically
disabled, or a straight A student they will benefit from the
positive, caring environment of our school.
Q: Will my classes be safe?
A: Absolutley. All classes are taught by highly trained Certified
Black Belt Instructors who are ready to bring out the best in you.
All classes are strictly monitored to ensure complete safety. At
Impact Martial Arts we have a completely matted practice room for
the ultimate in joint/muscle safety. We also us the most advanced
training tools to ensure the safety of our students.
Q: How long will it take to become
reasonably proficient?
A: The time it takes to become proficient
varies with each individual depending on the effort they put forth.
At Impact Martial Arts, students are very often amazed by their own
ability and accomplishment in as little as six months. This training
will give you the confidence of knowing that you can defend yourself
in most situations. Your real goal, however, should be to attain the
rank of Black Belt, getting yourself in the best physical condition
of your life. This level of proficiency typically takes about four
years. Once again, this will vary depending on your level of effort
and desire.
