The CDC defines bullying with three core elements:
• unwanted aggressive behavior
• observed or perceived power imbalance
• repetition or high likelihood of repetition of bullying behaviors
Inspired by the Former Recon Marine, Bill Kipp, SMART Defense teaches assertiveness and self-protection skills to protect our children effectively from bullies.
Using simple and effective non-violent conflict resolution skills, SMART Defense playfully gives children ages 6-12 the tools to stop bullies in their tracks. Children gain confidence from this experience and it empowers them in many other facets of their lives.
The following skills are incorporated into SMART Defense for kids. This is the BEST investment you can make in your child's well being:
• Avoid common playground altercations
• Handle name calling and teasing
• Protect personal space and possessions
• Assess appropriate defense and how to diffuse a potential fight
• Utilize verbal skills to back off an aggressive bully
• Implement physical escapes from grabs or pushes
• Apply confidence and assertiveness to all situations
• Participants will also learn simple yet effective strategies to detect and avoid a potential stranger abduction
• Execute anti-abduction tactics
